How do I create a will using Hoovalu?

Hoovalu gives you a place to store and share a signed will. It does not draft, generate, validate, or review a will. There is no guided will form or "Create New Will" button. You create the document outside Hoovalu, then keep a copy in your vault.

Get your will drafted

You can work with an estate attorney or consider a reputable online will service that supports your state. Check what the service includes and whether you can get legal help with questions. An attorney can help you work through family or property arrangements that a standard form may not cover.

Gather information about your property and the people you want to leave it to.
Decide who you would like to handle your estate.
Check your state's requirements before choosing a form or service.

Sign it under your state's rules

A will generally needs to be signed and witnessed according to state law. Requirements vary, and signing alone does not guarantee that a will is valid. Check your state's official guidance or ask an attorney how to complete yours. Uploading a document to Hoovalu does not make it legally binding.

Choose your executor

Your executor handles the work of settling your estate and carrying out the instructions in your will. Choose someone you trust who is organized, willing, and able to take on the responsibility. Ask them before naming them, consider a backup, and check your state's rules about who can serve. Sharing a file with someone in your Circle does not appoint them as your executor.

Keep it safe

Once your will is signed, keep a copy in your vault so the people you choose can find it.

Open Documents and find Last Will & Testament. The readiness assessment's Start your will action opens the information panel for this slot.
Upload a copy of your signed will to that slot.
Share the file with the Circle members who need it, such as your executor. In Circle, use the person's Manage access checklist to choose the document they can open.
Keep the signed original somewhere safe and tell your executor its physical location and how to reach it.

Keep it current

Review your will after a change in your family, property, or state of residence. Arrange any legal changes outside Hoovalu and follow the signing requirements that apply. Once the updated will is complete, use Replace file to update the copy in your vault. The replacement starts private, so share it again from Circle with anyone who still needs access. Tell your executor about the update and where you keep the current original.
